Art & Vine Press Release
Greensboro -- On Saturday, October 13 AKA Entertainment & Media will join
with its presenting partners and sponsors to present “Art & Vine”, a celebration
of the arts and the fruit of the vine. The festival will run from 11:00 am until 6:00
pm and will be located in the 200 block of North Davie Street, and the adjoining
Festival Park. The event has no admission fee, but those wishing to sample
the wine must purchase a wine tasting ticket that costs $15 in advance, and
$25 at the event. Those purchasing wine tasting tickets will also receive a
souvenir wine glass. Advance tickets may be purchased in several downtown
locations, and through participating arts organizations.
The Vision
The event promoter, Allen McDavid lives and works in downtown Greensboro,
and has produced several events there, including ArtsAlive! and MysticKarnival.
Says McDavid, “With this event I want to expose folks to the outstanding wine
being produced locally, and even more importantly, the outstanding art.” A
large contingent of fine artists from throughout the region will be on hand to
display and sell their work. Additionally, the art galleries in the Greensboro
Cultural arts Center will be open for event attendees.

About the Wine
Art and Vine will feature North Carolina wineries from throughout the state,
most notably Childress Vineyards. Two Guilford County wineries will also be
participating. They are Grove Winery in Gibsonville, and Stonefield Cellars in
Stokesdale. The participating wineries truly represent the wide variety of wine
being produced in this state, from Muscadine to Norton.
About the presenting partners
On hand for the occasion will be representatives and exhibits from notable,
local museums and galleries including The NC Museum of Art in Raleigh, The
Weatherspoon Museum in Greensboro, and The Green Hill Center for North
Carolina Arts in Greensboro.
Other event elements
In addition to the wine and art there will be several downtown restaurants
represented, all offering samples of their tasty culinary offerings. Providing
pleasing musical interludes will be several local artists including The Dave Fox
Group.
